I liked this, but I didn’t love it. It’s a quick, easy read with plenty of chemistry and two very stubborn personalities. Warren and Bridgette’s bickering made me smile at times, but occasionally it got a little exhausting. One minute I was rooting for them, and the next I wanted them to stop annoying each other and have an actual conversation.
What I missed most was a bit more depth. Bridgette was a character I wanted to understand better, rather than spend so much time trying to see past her sharp edges. Warren’s theory that someone who hates so passionately must be capable of loving just as passionately sounds intriguing, but it didn’t quite convince me. I would have liked more conversations and small moments that made their connection feel like something beyond physical attraction.
The short length is both a strength and a weakness. The story doesn’t drag, but there isn’t much room for the emotional side of the relationship to develop either. By the end, I felt like I’d needed a little more time with these characters to really care about them as a couple.
As a little extra in the Maybe series, it’s an enjoyable enough read. As a romance on its own, though, it felt a bit underdeveloped. I don’t regret reading it, but it’s not one I see myself picking up again.
